Flower

by

Mary Catherine Kohnke

Stem like a grape vine.
Petals like falling rocks.
Falling on the hard ground
So soft like a floating feather.
Smells like a bottle of perfume.
Standing tall peacefully blowing in the breeze.
Watching out for a new picker.

Wings

by

Mary Catherine Kohnke

Think of wings.
Transforming you into an angel.
Soaring through the blue sky.
Stop to smell the ocean.
To hear the trees whistle,
and the birds sing.
It starts to rain.
You, still soaring.
You can practiclly taste the wind and rain falling
down on you.
Still flying...

Sadness

by

Mary Catherine Kohnke

Tears running down your face like a
waterfall with water so warm as if the sun
heated it up.
Your eyes so red like a burning fire.
In your pillow you think of what's going on
in the world. More sadness. Like a fountain
flushing down your soft skin. Hours pass...
Celebrate!
You're well again.

Love

by

Mary Catherine Kohnke

What is this powerful feeling I have inside? Why do I feel this way?
I'm going crazy when I see this boy. Why?
I offer to sit with him. Why?
When I see him after school,
it's like butterflies in my stomach.
And sweat in my hand like a pond overfilling.
Why am I acting like an animal?
All I have to ask is:
Why me?
