System 7

by

Ami Kane

So...I'm just listening to System
on my hi-fi -it's around eleven
I'm wondering if my mom went to heaven
then inside I see this huge space
as I watch it evolves-
it forms right into this beautiful face
I'm asking why it's crying-sighing
gently it speaks to me
about my lawyer defending Pornographers
why he shields them from Photographers
If his kindness is real
why do his kind not feel?

Oh.. such pain for one race
I stare back at the beautiful face
It becomes She awaiting my answer
Slowly..I have this to tell her
I thank your spirit for questioning me
like I thank myself for keeping me free
Humans have strong hearts
we're not scared to cry out-
true we have little to laugh about
watching the waves crash on the beach
where pollution puts clarity out of reach.

Seeing fellow man work it in on himself
taught some of us to believe in wealth
made by taking food from hungry people
to give guns to perpertrators of evil
see those birds and whales dead at sea?
Well-next time around that could be me
So let us pray for absolution
Preserve life from retribution
I know we won't be going to heaven
So...I'm just listening to System 7...

Earth First.

by

Ami Kane

In all my quieter nights spent thinking of you
I can't find a straight path that leads to the truth
Hazy mind mists-you got caught in my thoughts...
Fact is I care more for the Ocean
Won't sacrifice that to a man
You laughed; you said this could go on for years
I passed in my head; you're the demon I feared.

I can be strong and command you should go
Take this message to the Overlord; your god on Pluto
He haunts all of our dreams; do you feel like you know?
Here on Earth we have massive problems
Thank you for the roses, poetry and love anthems
But it means more to me that the sea's are clean
For bird's to fly free through the air
I want peace for the planet's to share.

I can't give my heart to this man you sent for me
I've so much to do and he wants to return me
To the sad landscape on the dark side of the moon
We'll fall in love and sleep forever in the dunes
In this life I'm sorry but I have to be free
I accept in the next love will wait for me
Yet only after our death and rebirth
I will love him here-on planet Earth.

FREAKDOM OF INFORMATION

by

Ami Kane

We came up here to your area
51 times 'til we're scared of you
Of this obsession with data that collates you
When you can't begin to know the truth..
That there is no use-you want proof of disc-ships
And space juice but do you?
Well anyway what exactly are you gonna do?

Missile testing at White Sands
EBE's at Dreamland
Deadly force is authorised
You might not make it out alive
Meanwhile down at Groom Lake
There's no affording costly mistakes
Hence Cammo-dudes are military trained
without hesitation to blow out your brains.

Dang-Let's go tell the President
Just what the fuck he represents
What's happening in the name of defense?
Check the problems this area presents?
This ain't no threat to national security
So the President could not speak to me
But a record was made of my inquiry
And Area 51 don't exist-you see
So I guess they're just bullshittin' me?

Area 51 accountable to no one
Buying off land as fast as they can
Spanning the far horizon-one small step from heaven
With chemical deaths left unaddressed
U.S citizens are unimpressed
And the truth? We can only try and guess.

Reflections

by

Ami Kane

I think he's being reflective
Funny-he never noticed before
The mirror that hangs by the door
But he is unsure who he sees
Because now he's not sure who he is.

So he's spent some time with loneliness
And thought about his life
Eventually through the darkness
He glimpsed a sliver of light
When he looked..it got real bright.

In time his world gathers speed
And his soul is shouting
Out loud in the wind because he's free
He's remembered things about himself
That were always in his memory.

Now he sees the sunrise daily
As he walks along the beach
Skimming pebbles across the sea
And those distant lands he cannot see
Are not quite so out of reach.

Vibrations

by

Ami Kane

In my grand-mother's house
a painting hangs
on the wall
While it's quiet as a mouse
I can hear the
images call
Taunting me
almost hauntingly
salty my tears start to sting
Vibrations tensions
fret away
On the strings of the day
I swore I heard silence sing.

Atlantic Calling.

by

Ami Kane

It's calling to you
Can't you feel?
No breeze on these seas
Just galeforce winds
Born of angel's wings
But don't be scared like me
shh..Friendship calls.

We almost share your President
Me of UK and you of US
But whatever God meant
We are under duress
It's the classic terror threat
No war not as yet
Shh..Friends of course.

Atlantic twisters blow
Six thousand klicks ain't far
We taste the same salt
Take the same blame
When it's not even our fault
Stressed in the Western World
Shh..Friendship calls.

Species

by

Ami Kane

Things came together just right
Boris got the tune so tight
I'd write the words you'd sing
I still remember laughing
at Boris' shirt
after the show
the one where
there was that fight
and we all had to go
before the police came
Danny-it's a funny old game.

And then you changed
it happened overnight
you looked pale and gaunt
cheekbones haunted
then you went away
no goodbye's
nothing to say
Danny-we hated you that day.

Heroin hostage'd-you were tied
you stole,cheated and lied
but me and Boris
we cried
so fucking much
when you died
we almost felt to blame
we knew nothing could be the same
we will always feel the shame
whenever we hear your name
Danny-it's a funny old game.

Simon.

by

Ami Kane

Simon almost drowned it seems
people were wondering
where he had been
even the tree's were uttering
with whispering leaves
Simon heard them muttering
as his brother pulled him out
He was far to cold to remember
what the fight had been about.

It was freezing cold-January
snow lay thick on the ground
All Simon had in his memory
was his brother bringing him round
gradually he grew strong again
as sringtime came around
then something in him changed
when I asked him he just frowned
I think he's stopped feeling pain.

If I saw Simon I wouldn't run
I am not afraid of what he has become
he just got misguided
and misunderstood
his emotions got divided
he took all that he could
now this is how it ends
I'm not scared of Simon
because Simon is my friend.

Shoshan's Prayer

by

Ami Kane

Praying hard for families
of prisoners of war
pray they be freed
we won't forget
those hearts which bleed

See the stars in
Shoshana's eyes
bright shine belies
her fears give way
to inner strength.
