Simply War

What is so great
People dying left and right
Guns and bombs exploding
Destroying and removing
Simply death
Simply War
Life should be coveted
Cherished beyond belief
Why donít they understand
They hurt more than me
Simply death
Simply hurt
Children screaming
Women sobbing
Soldiers star
Under covered helmets
Simply death
Simply hurt
Can this really be it
Can love show through
The hatred is strong
Who needs it most
Simply death
Simply War
The children lying dead
The buildings blown apart
Some men joking
Why canít they see
Simply death
Simply hurt
The belief is strong
That weíre fighting for the right
So many dead
So many lost
Simply death
Simply hurt
Corruption and greed
Do they propel us
Drive us toward that goal
That makes so many dead
Simply death
Simply War
The lies that were said
In anguish we replied
As is the birthright
To fight for our freedom
Simply death
Simply hurt
Freedom is never free
Does it give us the right
To interfere and fight
Cause blood and tears
Simply death
Simply hurt
Long ago taught
Never back down
Now confused at that thought
Is freedom worth that price
Simply death
Simply War
The price thatís won in fear
Are we truly so different
Than those we fought before
Wanting something for ourselves
Simply death
Simply hurt
What do we fight for now
The reason is not clear
Once was freedom
Now is oil
Simply death
Simply hurt
The faces weíve seen
One day will flash
The blood will drip
Into a useless puddle
Simply death
Simply War
