Jess

by

Jessica Jones

My name is Jess,
I am but three
My arms are broken
I cannot speak

All alone once I wake
The doors are locked
In between the outside and me

I want to play
I want to be me
But daddy said it takes work to be free

Mommy is never here
When she is, I have no more fears
But when she leaves
It is just me

Oh be quiet
Daddy's home
Don't make him mad

When he comes in
He starts screaming at me
Telling me to get to my knees

He whips me and beats me
He kicks me
He even spits

He said before mom got home
He could help me
But he just makes it worse

I get my chance to get up

I run for my room
But he catches me
I am beaten and battered
Swollen and bruised

My name is Jess
I am but three
Tonight my daddy murdered me
