Aftershock

by

Kristina Iwan

Dancing-
With the devil-
All seemed new to the queen-
He fooled her-
And made her see-
An angel-
Gentle and dear-
He lay her heart-
In a safe hiding spot-
Only to later-
Toy and tease-
His cruel game-
Led her astray-
ANd she will never see-
Her angel-
Because he wasn't real-

My Peach

by

Kristina Iwan

The little girl-
Saw the great tree-
She had no fear-
And climbed-
To the highest branches-
Among the orange fuzzy fruit-
She played-
And laughed-
And then-
The storm came-
She fell-
Fell hard-
Her spirit was broken-
And spring came again-
But the girl-
Was afraid-
To even dream-
Of reaching out for-
The peach-
She once held in her hand-

Brain on a Silver Platter

by

Kristina Iwan

Totally drained-
Yet an untapped source-
Flowed free-
A mark was put in the win column-
Happiness is far off in the distance-
As I am stuck in the present-
A figure in the distance waved-
I saw a part of myself-
Run toward and the other half-
Ran away-
The thoughts inbetween-
Were of one-
I have an idea-
And it will be alike-
To yours-
To have found and lost-
In a matter of minutes-
I think I know now-
My lesson to be learned-
Although I explain it-
No one really understands-
The ache-
I felt from words-
Written on those pages-
An emptiness was-
Partially filled-
And in the days past-
A whole may grow-
And the distance will not seem-
So far off-

Goodbye My Love

by

Kristina Iwan

The end had come-
It was something she had to accept-
She had swallowed her pride-
And lost nothing, but-
The little bit of hope-
That had been clinging for so long-
The end was for the better-
Her heart couldn't handle him-
As much as she tried-
Freedom and life-
That seemed long gone-
Found the returning flight-
And although the flight is long-
I will be waiting at the airport-

Thinking Only of You

by

Kristina Iwan

"Apathetic," she said-
I guess-
Could it have been-
Any other way?
To show you-
Would be cowardly-
And to hold it back-
Is dangerous-
The can was dropped-
And if opened-
Ready to burst-
You couldn't know-
Because I am determined-
To stand strong-
And I know that there are-
Happy times ahead-
Because you showed me-
What the world had to offer-
And although you are gone-
I know deep inside-
That my bird will fly-
Back into my heart-

Rain

by

I sit here and think-
What is there to do?
I think of him, of course-
His face travels-
Through the lyrics-
That pass through my head-
I want him-
To be here with me-
What is there to do?
The melody changes-
And the thoughts change-
My dear love-
Has left me-
With a broken heart-
And shattered dreams-
Of what lay ahead-
Is there anyone listening?
They pass in and out-
Everyone riding the train-
And the stops are more frequent-
Or they don't come at all-
Is this the way that God had intended?
My ghosts are here-
To take me away-
And I must leave-
The vast emptiness-
That fills my mind-
With wonder-
And amazement-
To the yonder-
That is in the distance-
But never reached-
So I will stay-
And live-
For the next time-
That love walks in the door-
