My Best Friend

by

Samantha Irish

My best friend waits for me
To come home from school.
If I chance to be late-
She does not mind;
Because she is my best friend.

My best friend has a waggling tail,
When she sees the bus
Coming up the street-
That is because she's happy
To greet.....Her best friend

My friend and I-raked dry leaves,
That autumn blows off the trees.
Suddenly I turned around;
But my friend could not be found.

Then I dug through the dry leaves-
Through the pile of gold and brown;
And there she was staring at me...
My best friend, Saussy dog.
