century

by

Judith A Ingley

i cannot hear nor see nor smell
i cannot even touch
for i am a century going by
all i can dois watch

i watch the hateful war and blood
shed everywhere upon the land
man wants peace and still there is war
i am afraid i do not understand

the years have gone swiftly by
so many changes have taken place
and no one yet lives in peace
what is wrong with the human race?

i wish i could cry out and tell them to stop!
but those powers i do not have
for iam a century going by
all i can do is watch

alley cat

by

Judith A Ingley

he's an alley cat
all mangeled
he snarls and he claws
the noise that surrounds him
is the soundtrack from jaws
he threatens with his insanity
his anger and abuse
home is not a safe place
when this animal's on the loose
so, tomorrow i think i'll leave him
i hear there's help out there somewhre
but tomorrow he'll be sober and
i know i'll still be here
the road to wellness is a hard one and
one that's often feared
with god's help and kindness
i'll try to make it there.

the black man in the orange machine
is breaking up all my shells
damn this fragmented life
all
to
hell

is this the same girl?
her hair is longer now
unkept
her eyes are dead
she brings home strangers to her bed
trying so hard to feel
empty life
empty head

she's playing a game and it's crazy
go ahead, try to tell her that
she'll only laugh
and the next night she'll have a new friend
in her bed and call it love
empty life
empty head

the alcohol monster

by

Judith A Ingley

the alcohol monster
shows its ugly head
dvouring and accusing and
wishes me dead

angry as hell
it grins and it drools
overtaking the weak and
making them fools

the alcohol monster
kills its victims slow
the demons are laughing at
the horrifying show and

the alcohol monster
thinks itself "cool"
its killig the family along
with the fool

Untitled

Judith A Ingley

she believed in santa claus
bright, colored paper and
shiney toys
candy apples and honey dreams amd
lots and lots of popcorn days

then she grew up
still believing in dreams
stumbled on love and
found out how to cry

santa,s not real
days are not popcorn
someone should have told her before
she believed the lies

sad

by

Judith A Ingley

made a friend today
called him Sad
sat behind him on his motorcycle
in the warming air
called it fun

called the woods beautiful
flowers on either side
trees ten centuries high
and my new friend beside me
taking long, proud strides
called it pride

he told me stories about the crazy wars he fought
told me about the girl he lost

suddenly, i felt his hurt
and started to cry

Sad looked at me then and asked my name
told him to call me Pain

castles

by

Judith A Ingley

i am dreaming today
about a prince on a white horse
coming to take me away
to somewhere all billowy
where fantasy lies
to tropical forests
and silvery skies

to a castle with smiles
all pink in a cloud
where pain is unheard of
and hate is not found

i am believing this dream
in a world all too real
god, please give me the faith
to believe in it still

shadows

by

Judith A Ingley

shadows moving accross the windows
people moving accross my life
reach out again for love
it,s just around the corner
turning now and out of sight

so many shadows moving accross the
windows of my life
