Tortured Soul

by

Laura Holterman

You caught my eye and I let out a sigh
and tingled for my soul was smiling.
The things you said turned my head
for my ego hadn't eaten in months,
I pretended not to see when you didn't look at me
and turned your head her way.

She giggled, I gagged.
You laughed, I cried.

We drifted apart, but you took my heart
for you had none of your own.
I pretended not to care, but then you would stare
rekindling my flicker of hope.
Then my eyes begin to rain for you left my with my pain
and you left with that whore

You tempted my soul then tortured it
For this is hell and you put me in it.
