The nymph becomes a caddis fly.
The seed becomes a tree.
Boys become men.
Girls become women.
This is the order of things.

Sons of sharecroppers lead nations.
Daughters of carpenters cure disease.
The illiterate learn to read.
The bull elk survives the winter.
The jackel survives with no food.
This is the determination of things.

The lonely find love.
The unenlightened become knowing.
The insecure become confident.
The weak become strong.
The cowardice become brave.
This is the spirit of things.
