MIDNIGHT SUN

by

Debra A. Hoffmann

Steal the stars from the horizon
The waking dawn she knows my name
Lost in the last of velvet darkness
The sleeping earth bursts into flame
This is the stuff legends are made of
This is a ballad of days gone by
Let me bury my face in your scarlet mantle
As Araidia touches her wand to the sky

I never knew that I would love you
I gave up in believing in love at all
But you seem the stuff my dreams are made of
You're there to catch me when I fall
And if sometimes you feel the need to
Seek repose and calm when the day is done
Let me light the darkness for you
Let me be your midnight sun

Take the fruit the earth has to give you
Bathe in the water of emerald sea
Give me leave to follow your footsteps
Where you go or have been
Is precious to me
And if you sometimes feel the need to
Hold someone when the day is done
Let me light the darkness for you
Let me be your midnight sun

Stay til the dawn throws her light on the meadow
Gentle cat eyes guard this circle of stone
We'll know her warmth in this cauldron of shadow
We're our mother's children, we're never alone
And if sometimes you feel the need to
Seek repose and calm when the day is done
Let me light your waking dawn,
Let me be your midnight sun
