When I Was A Bird

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

Once I was a bird that followed you around
I never followed too closely and never made a sound
I saw you exhaused and in need of much rest
When you fell asleep I landed on your chest

You were so relaxed in a deep sleep
I could feel your heart beating beneath my feet
I sat there as a bird would sit on it's nest
And decided that I too should get some rest

So with my body close to you I closed my eyes
I did not awake until sunrise
You slept on and it was a good thing too
What would you have done finding me on you

Would I have had a plan if you happened to wake
Where would I have gone, what route would I take
Since the time was right I found a hidding place
Safe from your view where I could see your face

Soon you began to stirr and I began to sing
You frowned and hit the clock as it began to ring
Tourning over in bed, I could see your brilliant chest
I turned my beak so as not to see the rest

You doddled not a minute you were up and in flight
Bouncing to the beat you made your bed tight
Into the shower you bopped and the music played
I flew over to inspect the place where you had laid

Oh... Yes!, I love that scent
The shower stopped and I was on my perch again
Oh! you in a towel, beaks about face
You know it is hard for a bird to turn in such
a tiny space

With every hair in place you were out of the door
Still bouncing to the beat you could hear no more
I watched in admiration as you began to leave
I already missed your face as you drove away from me

Today

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

Today my heart longed to hear your voice
With all the effort I made to resist I lost
I tried to call and you were gone
I have never felt so alone.

Today as I went through my day
I could not shake the image of your face
I prayed all day long that I would find some peace
But thoughts of you over powered me

Today I tried to busy myself and occupy my mind
But all roads led to you in time
So I wait for a day
That I shall have you near
Not like today when your so far from here

Today I will go on and smile and laugh and play
Never forgetting how I long to see you face
Some time I will reach out you
Just practicing for when it all comes true

Breath

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

To hear your laughter
Is so great
Your singing brings
Joy to my heart
Your eyes send me sailing
to pleasant shores
So that I want and need
Nothing More...

My heart is settled
In your comfort
Peace takes me
With your every smile
I am at ease
Wanting nothing more

In your presence
My insides move
I am not sure how
I am shaken for an instence
Then fallen again somehow
Full and wanting nothing

At ease and wanting nothing
Full and wanting nothing
Sailing to all pleasant shores
Wanting Nothing

Except to be close enough to
Hear you Breath
Breath on me...

Fallen

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

I looked into your eyes and the treasures I could see
sent me spiraling down into you
for all eternity

My heart has never known a heart so kind and true
as the passionate place I found inside of you
I can see your wonders and all that you cling to
I shielded my heart from the hurts so old and new

Falling I could not stop my heart from being yours
Or from wanting to be a part of you private world
All that you hold close to you began to grip my Soul
no return to what I know

Your treasures have become my dreams
your desires my paradise
no hope to return to the place
I found in your eyes

My control forever constant has been laid
slain
I am raptures in smiles each time I hear your name
The bitter places gave to me an adventure sure
Your sweetness makes even my trembling secure
I am still there and no return is sought
Happy in the caring grip of your loving heart

I have fallen to a place the makes you know my secret call
I am bare before you
You see and know my all
Now that I have fallen into you

Giving it up

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

Giving it up, My way

I met you once before and gave way
You had so much to do and say
You discouraged my progress
For a moment I took heed
Then my heart was darkened
My Soul began to bleed

I shouted my love for him
He began to smile
I have repented
I traveled the miles

I took his hand
We embraces in tears
I knew them that it remained
Despite the distance and the years

I am content for now
Coming closer still
Until he is my own
And I am his

Donít forget to breathe

Once More

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

I see so much worthy of embrace
I am at a loss to find a way
To show or to say how much or
To what degree or intensity
I love you
So instead I ask you
to be brave
Though love is a scary thing
With the power to snatch all care out of us
Cripple our best attributes
Make our hearts Cry
Make us wish we were dead
Ask how we can survive
Make us question our worth
Change all we are
Worry our neighbors and friends
Be weary of life
Make us question all that is right
I ask despite all of that
be brave
Once more
Long enough for love to prove that
It does exist and that
It is present here for you
Now and always

When I Pray

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

Each time I pray it seems
God is on your side
I don't see my answers
Except inside your eyes

I ask God a question
And you answer me
How can you know
My private hopes and dreams

I know I am not wiser
I know that God knows best
It is difficult
after all this time
To just relaxe and rest
Allowing life, even my dreams
To just happen

So now when I pray
I never pray about you
But I ask God to help me
Let go of all the controls

Allowing you to lead
Allowing you to choose
Allowing you to be
The man God created for me

Still

by

Debbie E. Hobbs

A lot of time has passed
Gray in in my hair
Many things have changed
But the Love is still there

I tried hard to shake it off
Thinking you may not care
My efforts are useless
years later it is still there

So what do you suggest
I'm I doing the wrong thing
Should I take action
or just wait and be still

The only thing I am sure of
Is that my heart belongs to you
It wont listen to me
Or obey what I want to do
So whether I am happy, sad and blue
My heart insists that it still loves you
