A Lady's Winter Flowers

Sara Elizabeth Hill

the rose's perfume took
vacation hiding in Shallot's
fairy myth.

drawn from our lady's garden...
and she waited,
listening to silver bells,
until they returned to
grace Narcissus frilled china.

she wrote in a woman's script,
from windows laced in snow...
of the structure of summer's garden
where apple blooms spoke
of fruit,
and lilies graced the daisy;
when our lady blushed
for the sun, and Camelot.
