Unsung Heroes

by

Dillon Hennessy

As the wind swept across the field on that cold October day
It carried away not just hay but names, yes, names.
People’s names, those have done deeds of courage, love and strength
And who have strived for peace and happiness, with nothing in return.

Those who took the toil and burn of life and all its problems
And solved them quietly, quickly and bravely.
They did deeds beyond comprehension, for nothing, not even fame
And in the end died silently with a whimper not a bang.
They disappeared from life with no record of existence.

They are the unsung heroes of iron, will and resistance.
