Betwixt

by

Derek Hamlin

Betwixt thou and me lingereth a distant space, shrinking sweet and swiftly each day...

And the sound that fainteth, your maternal roar, as doth a lioness protecting her own, for far from this shrinking space-thy beautiful, radiant eyes tell of the sweetest dreamer, who wishes not to dream alone...

Two hands reach forth across this distant space, and cling to the mystic warmth felt...
No longer afraid to conqueor this space- a moment's tender embrace is held...

Betwixt you and me lingereth a distant space- shrinking swift and sweetly each day...
The path to take, less uncertain, and passion of the heart-like a babe-young and tender, stilled softly by the velvet of love's curtain...

Should I be deterred yea, deny the heart's greatest reward, to love as though there be no tomorrow? We proveth not this question...For then all in life pains for "What if?"... And because thou didest not- the instant sorrow...

Betwixt thou and me fadeth away, the distant space, which shrinketh swift and sweet...
And the sound, once dim, now groweth stronger...thou seest, and heareth me with ease, my face and my voice...
For it draweth nigh unto thee...

And thou hearest me say the sweetest words - words which inspire great music's melodies...
I lovest thee...And only, thee.
