Aftermath

by

Linda Griffin

Charred images
Of merciless fates
Come to mind,
As the raven sings
Of recent finds.

Shadows crawl
Where they once did walk,
And ghosts cry out
For they may no longer talk.

Tears run dry
As the silence forges
Pain in steel,
And despair rejoices
As she feasts on her empty meal.

The burden of reality
Sheds her heavy veil,
And in her face
Even jackels taste
The pity in her tale.

Dawn comes slowly
Bringing a darkness
Worse than night,
The truth is revealed
And watchers shudder in its light.

That is the reality
That is hard to face,
That is the way hearts die,
Young dreams are shattered
And life becomes a lie.

So remember
The darkness of the dawn hour,
When the lies
That were so sweet
Turn sour.

Remember the sleeping faces
That lay so very still,
And forget
That you know how to kill.

Imagens carbonizadas
De destinos impiedosos
Vem a mente,
Como canta o corvo
De recentes achados.
Sombras rastejam
Onde eles caminharam uma vez,
E fantasmas clamam
Porque já não podem falar.

Lágrimas corridas secam
Como as forjas de silêncio
Dor em aço,
E o desespero alegra
Como ela festeja a fome.

O fardo da realidade
Desprende seu pesado véu,
E em sua face
Até mesmo assassinos provam
A piedade de seu conto.

Amanhece lentamente
Trazendo uma escuridão
Pior que noite,
A verdade é revelada
E os guardas estremecem em sua luz.

Isso é a realidade
Isso é duro enfrentar,
Isso é como os corações morrem,
Jovens sonhos são despedaçados
E vida torna-se mentira.

Então lembra-te
A escuridão da hora de amanhecer,
Quando as mentiras
Eram tão doces
Voltam amargas.

Lembre-te das faces dormentes
Que ainda aplacam,
E esquece
Que você sabes matar.

Womb Wishes

Tell me slowly,
piece by piece,
shape upon shape,
light must follow,
and let the shadows
rest.

Show me some,
but keep knowledge
private,
- we need no
wise fools.

Say it gently,
whisper the words,
let me see colours
in a blindman's
world.
