The Gift

by

Amber Rose Gonzalez

Sound Writhers through the earth
Weaving in and out of the air
Brushing against the heart of my soul
Night comes,
And the air stays constant
As does the sound
Requiring neither words nor voice
But only the sweet passion of such a gift
That gift
Is the sound of joy, soul, and love
That gift
Is the sound of music.

I've fallen once for this trecherous trap,
Feeling only what I choose not to feel.
Being only what I choose not to be.
Days, weeks, months, years...
How long does a heart have to be broken?
How long does a songcatcher have to look,
Before realizing that there is nothing like the song of that
one,precious,singer.
That one, precious sound of harmony and peace.
Given only by a heart that is no longer broken,
And a dream that is no longer only a dream, but the solid of a reality.

Looking for only one thing,
If you truly know me,
Then you'll see and understand.
That this heartache I've got,
Is just too steep.
And I know that,
You might not mean to hurt me.
But you're killing me, for losing what was almost meant to be.

My Best Friend

by

Amber Rose Gonzalez

Not a day's gone by
That I haven't shed a tear.
I look back on the days,
And an unforgetful year.
But now I must forget,
Force myself to let go.
Let go of the things,
That I thought you'd never know.
I thought you'd never know,
Because I didn't want to tell you.
But by telling you this way,
My love has only failed you.
I'm sorry for the guilty conscience,
And the heartache, too.
But leaving and foretting,
Was the only thing to do.
You say to forget love,
You must confess and forsake.
I confessed,
But for that alone, all my strength it would take.
Now I must make some closure,
In a friendship meant to be.
However, these three words,
Have a different meaning to me.
I love you, and I'm sorry,
This is my last good-bye.
I'm sorry to have to say,but with you my heart would die.

forgotten

Summer breezes condone my senses
Leaving me to hide the memory of your winding eyes
Which still see through me
The stars above remain transfixed
There when my heart was together
Still there while my heart is apart
And the rest goes unfinished...
