He talks to no avail
Failed attempts to convince otherwise
Marred by fuzzy details
Of the past wrapped in a bow
Around his neck
Forgetting to speak
She loses hope and everything before and after
They met on the road traveled
Walking beneath the blue skies that should have been bluer.
She talks to no avail
Failed attempts to convince otherwise
Marred by fuzzy details
Of the past wrapped neatly in a bow
Around her neck
Shunning his intent
Pushing memory down his throat,
Inside his gut,
Beneath his ass.
As the sun rises above the road traveled,
They wake to find themselves
Wrapped in a bow
Around their bodies
They talk to no avail
Shared regrets to remember otherwise
Marred by details
Of the past spelled out before their eyes
They see the rain
Fall gently, conveniently
Unraveling the bow
Sliding down their bodies
Finding shelter beneath their feet
Between the road traveled and their shoes.
