Clever Portrait (Razors Mask)

by

Sarah Gonderman

Short of breath and filled with thoughts
Honey you're quite the delicate disaster
You've got a way to mask the ache
And the strides you take are such a pain
You're apt to stumble along the road
But no one will help you up when you take that fall
You'll crash and burn like the times before
Everybody's got somebody better than you
Desperation and no one to call
Darling there's got to be a better way than this
Frantic and rushed, the razors opened wide
The pain you feel inside will soon subside
Lines of red will streak your pale white flesh
Pooring it all out to the turned backs of this world
Defy them and take it in your hands
No one can take from you what you created at last
A perfect portrait of a girl they're too blind to see
The girl who's faking it so hard she's diving in too deep
Words and lines that flow together perfectly
She's got a clever way of disguising a dying heart

We've got a brand new disaster brewing, sweetheart
Young breaking hearts and perfectly worded lies
Mix in a bit of tension and jealousy to spice things up
Can't let this fade away into the dawn as some cheap trick
These mixes used to be what I thrived upon each night
But now it's all seemingly choking me up
I could disguise this all and play charades for ages
But you're breaking down the barriers I built around me
The guests are staring, and I'm stuck in your blinding spotlight
Sweating palms and cracking throats, we're two fresh actors
Press your hips against mine, make sure everyones fooled
I'm faking this harder than you honey, so bask in your glory
They weren't too hard to sell, so let's mix things up for fun
Throw on a few more crafted masks and use a couple clever lines
Baby you're the new Broadway actor in this bitter town
You'll leave me behind and the scandals will arise and drift ashore
I'm holding back from telling you exactly what this really feels like
This act is becoming the breaking art of growing up

Murderer

by

Sarah Gonderman

I'd like to thank you for waiting this long
Just to show me who you really are
And what you truly wanted from me
You laced your words with poisonous lies
And the ties we made were shortly broken
I see now how proud you are of what you've done
It must be glorious to destroy someone else's life
So bask in your destruction and memorize its falls
Perfect the mistakes and transmit the word
Don't let anyone forget that you're better than me
Don't let me forget that you've won this game
I'd like to thank you for waiting this long
Just to show me how pitiful you really are
How every single motion you made meant nothing
And how worthless you will always be
You make me wish I never existed
You make me wish I could've seen through the lies
So tell me honey, how's it feel to be a murderer?

Win the Bet

by

Sarah Gonderman

She's shaking deep inside
And his motives are delightfully hidden
She'll let him have his way for a few
And he'll bask in his spiteful glory
She's so used to faking it it's second nature
And he's so used to using her it's a ritual
Hips upon hips and lips on lips
Two lovers under silk sheets explore the trend
She's doing it to try and keep him there
He's doing it to finally win the bet
She's thinking twice but bites her lip
No time for hesitation, it's got to be quick
Fists clenching sheets and it's all going down
He'd never expect what the future would hold
The news will hit the media fast and loud
A young teenage girl has drowned
Too many sleeping pills and a few too many cuts
It was the only way she knew to win the war

Hear Me Out

by

Sarah Gonderman

Honey you've got a gun to my aching heart
And you're piecing your words together like a puzzle
I'm not too sure if I can crack the code
It's all getting a bit too hard for me to choke
I need you like I need water in my lungs
A fresh escape from this life of such tender lies
Baby, baby please just listen for just a second
Don't rush your words and get so hostile
I've got to tell you something so utterly important
Please, I'm begging you, just listen for a second
I'm breaking, darling, I'm breaking deep inside
Don't release that trigger quite yet
I'm not sure if I'm ready to let this all go
Shield me from the harsh reality of lies I've built around me
It's all not getting better with the masquerade I attend
I'll give you drama at the end of the barrel
But I need to let it all pour out, so give me the chance
I need you to believe me when I say I'm sorry
You were never supposed to believe the lies I showed you
You were supposed to see through the charade I played
I'm falling honey, falling so quick and hard
I'll take the gun from your very fingertips and do your dirty deed
But I'm begging you in my silent regrets to save me
