Toward my Garden

by

Paul Gardiner

I have journeyed through a desert named misery
and I came to the edge of my world
and I was cold.

I stood on the edge of my abyss
and I heard it call my name
and I was frightened.

But I did not head the call, instead I turned
and there before me was a path
and I knew it had always been there.

On the path stood all my fears
and as I watched they became much less
and for the first time I could see what was beyond my fears

I knew that the path led toward my garden
and I could now go there
and I would be at peace with myself

safe in the arms
of all I need.
