Greg Franklin

The Santa Anas attacked,
and in it's wake my beautiful 14 foot Ficus Benjamina lay
murdered by the vicious winds.

When I found the lifeless limbs of my beloved toppled tree
motionlessly pressing on the grass
my heart became glass
and I knew my tears would spill from the vessel.

Gathering myself, I had to make use of my legs.
Connect! Connect!
I ordered the neurons back into service.

Days passed before light filtered back into my brain. name is Greg...I remember now.
The shock!
The separation of blood
from the vital connection of life's thought.

Now the pain is dull and tolerable.
Once more I have purpose.
Once more I can live.
