The light's a twisted oak
Fool's gold
Spinning looms of lost time
Golden leaves bearing
Copper fruit
Nothing's forbidden
My bloodthirsty friends walk alone
High as the sky
Hair blowing out the window-- and escaping
Nothing's forbidden
In a place like this
Lust is the carpet
Sin is the roof
And I'm in the car of excitement
A hearse to Peter's Never-Never Land
Complete with Alice's
Shroom sitting chain smoking caterpillar
And disappearing cat
It's all a trip for me
A loom of heart-pounding pulse-racing
possibilities
The mind bending pleasures of the soul
A web of mahogany thoughts
Black silk rustles
And pools full of nothingclad lovers
It's all a dream
More
like a trip
On the train to a painted sky
Red like a painful night
Where June sits
Lusting after May
In October's sobering light.

Tentative
And dangling
Tears about to slide
In release
In letting go
Of the fear
And the tension
On the edge
About to fall
And knowing
There's someone
Down below
for safety
the tension of the flow
cause the current's gone around me
i've rooted to the ground
i've been a rock
in other people's hard times
i've been a pebble
swept along
throughout my own
but i've made it to the sea
out of the river finally
cause i couldn't take it one more time
if i were to get stuck again in such a narrow view
i needed the waves
for comfort
i needed the salt
for pain
i needed the sunset without trees to block the view
and i needed to change
cause a rock
can weigh you down
and a pebble
can so easily be lost
i needed the ocean for my comfort
i needed the tide
to bring me in
and i needed to see
the sunset
to have that salt
s l i d e
from my eyes

the pain of a few too many sorrows
in a too few number of years
haunts the light inside
it grips my soul and squeezes tight
and never does let go
i lay around inside my head
wondering how things went wrong
i dream a little
of things i want
because that ghost can't own my hope
he shades the sky
he rips it open and pulls me through
and rapes me with his mind
he enters my thoughts
keeps me always watching the shadows
i am surrounded by his shadows
and his fear-inducing strides
i am the one who peeks through blinds
at the present
keeps a lid on the face of the future
and writhes inside
the hell of her own mind
under the careful watch of him
that ghost who is
the past.
