A Country Divided

by

Kathleen Fagan

Why all this protesting, for or against.
A country divided we sit on the fence.
How much longer will we let this go on.
Why are we giving so much power to saddam.
A cruel dictator, who tortures his own.
Now with his back to the wall.
He throws us a bone.
For so many years we have played his game.
The ending result is always the same.
The people in Iraq deserve to be freed.
Who will help them, if we don't take the lead.
He used chemical weapons, on people overthere.
If we don't stop him right now.
We had better beware.
All the protesting in the world,
will not change these facts.
Its time to call his bluff.
Stop him in his tracks.

No Greater Sacrifice

by

Kathleen Fagan

A few more hours of peace remains.
We will soon realize, our losses or gains.
Our soilders are positioned.
They are ready to fight.
The enemy knows their coming.
I hope they go at night.
Families are left here all alone.
They are praying their loved ones,
will all be coming home.
We know that our soilders,
will be in harms way.
This is a great price,
we have asked them to pay.
They Have pledged their lives,
so we can remain free.
No greater sacrifice could there be.
God will give them strength,
to do what they must.
We are americans.
In God we trust!

A Glance In The Mirror

by

Kathleen Fagan

I know someday Ill be old and gray.
Iam not lokking forward to that fateful day.
Time can be cruel to a womans face.
I wish I could age with poise and grace.
When I glance in the mirror.
I don't like what I see.
Can this aging person really be me?
I search for the beauty that once was admired.
I see all the wrinkles, that have now transpired.
Lines I see at the corners of my eyes.
Everything I eat goes right to my thighs.
There are aches and pains.
They were not there before.
Staying up all night, doesn't work anymore.
My memory is good, and I still have my own teeth.
I guess i should be thankful.
Iam above ground not beneath!

Gone From Me

by

Kathleen Fagan

You have been gone for such a long time.
I fear for your safety.
You are forever on my mind.
I see bombs dropping,
fire and smoke in the air.
It scares me to death,
knowing you might be there.
More sleepless nights,
I know there will be.
I feel like Iam missing,
the best part of me .
Iam proud that your fighting,
to keep our country free.
May God keep you from harm,
Until your at home with me.

The Good Old Days

by

Kathleen Fagan

Life has changed in so many ways.
I can remember the good old days.
We listened to records.
Spent hours on the phone.
Took in a movie,Or just stayed at home.
There were no computers to occupy our time.
A handful of candy, you could get for a dime.
No video games, did we have to play.
Riding a bike was the thrill of the day.
Girls had their dolls.
Boys had their trucks.
You could get a good meal,
for just a few bucks.
We put coal on the furnace.
Hung clothes out to dry.
It took all day just to make one pie.
These were the good old days?
I sure don't know why!

A Place For Me

by

Kathleen Fagan

I wonder if there will ever be.
A place I can go, and just be me.
I don't want to worry about the laundry being done.
A place where I can just lay in the sand,
and soak up the sun.
No dishes to wash.
No beds to be made.
I won't have to worry about bills being paid
I can smile when I want to.
Not just to be polite.
It won't make any difference,
Who's wrong, or who's right.
Not a soul around to sit and complain.
Some beautiful Island,
always sun and no rain.

In Gods Hands

by

Kathleen Fagan

As I stand on the shore,
and watch you depart.
I know that with you,
goes a piece of my heart.
There is an emptiness inside me,
as I watch you pull away.
I will never forget the lonliness,
I feel this day.
I will miss you beside me when I awaken.
I know that your bound ,
by the oath you have taken.
I wonder how long you will be far from me.
My love will go with you,
while your out at sea.
I will try to be strong,
and hope for the best.
In Gods hands I will leave the rest.

Our Lives Have Changed

by

Kathleen Fagan

Our lives are being dominated,
by terrorists and war.
Iam afraid to board an airplane,
or open my mail anymore.
At airports your checked, from head to toe.
I don't feel secure,anywhere I go.
The threat of terror is always on my mind.
Duck tape and gas masks,
are getting hard to find.
I know that our lives,
will never be the same.
Thanks to Bin Laden,
and Saddam Hussein

Watching The War

by

Kathleen Fagan

Iam totally amazed,to be watching war on t.v.
Every station has pictures of bombing,
for everyone to see.
We don't have to wonder,
whats happening over there.
Flip rom station to station.
Its more than you can bare.
Iam afraid I'll miss something,
if I turn it off at night.
What a technical world we live in.
We are watching war by satellite

Waiting Here At Home

by

Kathleen Fagan

I know your in a land unknown.
I pray that God will keep you safe,
until he brings you home.
Iam Hoping that the days go fast.
Iam glad your not alone.
Iam just sitting here,
in my oversized robe.
Wishing you would call on the phone.
God bless you and keep you,
on your journey far away.
Our country calls, and you are there.
For your safe return I pray.

Prospect Of War

by

Kathleen Fagan

The prospect of war,
sends shivers down my spine.
How many lives will be lost.
Who will be next in line.
Have faith in our leaders.
Hope they do whats right.
We must protect or freedom.
That means we have to fight.
How can we live with ourselves.
If we let evil prevail.
A country needs our help.
This is no time to bail.
We are a great nation.
Our colors fly high.
As long as we are steadfast.
Freedom will never die.

Always With You

by

Kathleen Fagan

It seems like just yesterday,we said I do
Now your in a far off land,
guarding the red,white,and blue.
Time stands still, when your not here.
Your picture by my bed,I keep very near.
Everyday seems like a chore.
I keep waiting for you, to come through the door.
I fear for your safety each and everyday.
I lay awake at night, and sometimes I pray.
My love is always with you.
I'll be waiting here.
Iam not as brave as you,
but I will try to show no fear.
You are my knight in shinning armour.
Please remember that dear.

Your Country Is With YOu

by

Kathleen Fagan

My heart goes out to our soilders.
There battle has just begun.
Defending our countries freedom.
They are doing what must be done.
Bombs falling all around them.
Shots fired so very near.
Still they fight with no reservations.
On their faces I see no fear.
The casualties are many.
Our country shares the pain.
Know that we are with you.
Your fight is not in vain.

Our Nation Salutes You!

by

Kathleen Fagan

As I watch the war,
from the comfort of my home.
Incredible bravery is being shown.
Young men and women giving their all.
Fighting for freedom, they stand brave and tall.
How can we repay you for this great sacrifice.
monetary value,we could not pay the price.
Its easy to have opinions,
sitting from an easy chair.
You are crouched in ditches.
Gunfire everywhere.
The debt we owe you,
adds up everyday.
Our nation salutes you!
In your hands our future lay!

Precious Freedom

by

Kathleen Fagan

Strong abd determined,
our troops push on through.
Tired and hungry,
rest stops are few.
For days at a time,
they go without sleep.
Dust and fine sand,
get onto everything they eat.
The enemy is hidden.
Ready to strike.
Our troops stand their ground.
They are ready to fight.
Lives will be lost.
America will cry.
Our freedom is precious.
The price we pay is high.

Thank You Mr. Blair!

by

Kathleen Fagan

Your are a friend to our country.
A great ally.
Through all the opposition,
by us you stood by.
When others turned away,
you gave us your hand.
Our troops fight together,
in this far off land.
Your country will suffer losses,
but you stand by our side.
We have to free this country.
From this task we cannot hide.
God bless you, and your troops over there.
I just want to thank you,
Prime Minister Blair!

America's Heroes

by

Kathleen Fagan

Our country mourns for the casualties of war.
They paid the ultimate price.
How can we ask for more.
My heart goes out to the families.
There pain I know is great.
Some still waiting patiently,
to know ther loved ones fate.
We are so proud of our soildres.
For freedom they gave their all.
You are America's heroes.
In our eyes you will always stand tall.

Untitled

by

Kathleen Fagan

The longing to be part of a whole.
A desire to leave our footprints.
To be immoralized in a picture.
Each memory, a unique piece of the puzzle.
Anticipation of what will be.
Desperation of not knowing how it will end.
Each life we touch, an anchor into the future.
Holding on to fragments of the past.
Searching for what lies ahead.
Never straying from the path.

If I Could Live Forever

by

Kathleen Fagan

If I could live forever.
I would take you with me dear.
We would sail across the ocean,
watch the sunset appear.
Destination unknown.
Just very far from home.
No hustle and bustle.
No time schedule here.
Not a single fast food resturant near.
The calm breeze from the ocean at night.
A thousand stars in the sky would be our light.
If only life could be this simple and sweet.
I would drop everything and be on my way.
We wouldn't have to worry about,
living another day.

America's Guarantee

by

Kathleen Fagan

Our troops are tired and weary.
They have battled long and hard.
The casualties are many.
We hold them in high regard.
They are on the doorstep of victory.
We give them our graditude and praise.
Even though they can't really do it.
In their hearts our flag they raise.
A nation has been liberated.
The people will finally be free.
No one will ever torture them again.
This is america's guarantee!

Tears Of Freedom

by

Kathleen Fagan

The day we have fought for,
has finally come.
We have taken the city.
The dictatorship is done.
Hundreds of people out on the street.
Tears in their eyes,
our soldiers they come to meet.
It touches my heart,
to know they are finally free.
God has given our soldiers,
a great victory.
The threat of torture,
is no longer a fear.
We have given them a new life.
Their freedom is here.
Thank God we were able.
to help them this way.
This will always be remembered,
as a glorious day!

Images Of War

by

Kathleen Fagan

I never imagined.
I would live to see a war.
This is something, I pray,
I don't see anymore.
The devistation of a country.
Bombs bursting in the sky.
Something called collateral damage,
means inocent people die.
Casualties on both sides.
Soldiers lose their lives.
Many have left home waiting,
children and their wives.
Women crying racked with fear.
A child to young to know.
Hoping when this war is over.
They have a place to go.
This battle has brought freedom.
But what a price to pay.
The images of war.
In my mind will forever stay

Reality Of War

by

Kathleen Fagan

Now that the war comes to an end.
Will the people understand.
We are truely their friend.
Many innocent people,
were killed in the fight.
I hope they understand.
What we had to do was right.
Freedom is great.
But there is a price paid.
With every battle.
Sacrifices are made.
My heart goes out,
to the children left alone.
there are many brave soldiers,
that won't be coming home.
to save the lives of many.
Some will be lost.
the reality of war.
Everyone bares the cost.

Fear No More

by

Kathleen Fagan

Not a day goes by,
that peace is not on my mind.
I believe the war will bring peace.
Agression will be left behind.
I know we are doing the right thing.
These people should be free.
I don't understand how some,
still are arguing and disagree.
We don't want to conquer a country.
Their oil belongs to them.
Freedom is what we fight for.
A cruel dictatorship is what we condemn.
The people will now realize,
they don't have to live in fear.
We have given them a live thats free.
something we hold very dear!

Hidden Tears

by

Kathleen Fagan

When did I fall,
into this deep dark place.
My tears I keep hidden.
A smile has left my face.
Churning inside me,
there is emptiness and pain.
Instead of sunshine.
My days are filled with rain.
Happiness a memory.
Laughter is so rare.
An eternity of saddness,
like a curse I bare.
I am Like an actress,
each day a different role.
My life is filled with a void,
that engulfs my very soul.
A fine crystal glass,
that has been shattered on the floor.
Each a piece of me,
that doesn't fit anymore.

Chocolate

by

Kathleen Fagan

My passion for chcolate.
Its hard to understand.
Seems like its a woman thing.
We need it on demand.
Hidden in my dresser drawer,
rich, sweet, and creamy.
Its what Iam craving for.
What is it about chocolate.
Its so hard to resist.
I feel if I don't have a piece.
My world will cease to exist.
No other kind of candy,
can tempt me in this way.
When I want a bite of chcolate,
I must have it right away!

Can I Tell Him

by

Kathleen Fagan

How can I tell him.
I feel like somethings gone.
I wish I could say,
our love remains strong.
How can I tell him.
I hide the tears I shed.
Iam afraid to say a word.
I lay awake in bed.
How can I tell him.
He seems so far away.
The distance between us,
grows more everyday.
How can I tell him.
I miss the love we share.
If I do tell him.
Will he really care.
