How Do I Tell You

by

Connie J. Elkins

How do I tell you what I feel inside
When I wonder if you care?
It's easier for you to understand
The feelings that we share.
The feelings that are mine alone
Are secret in my heart..
My fear will keep them buried there
There's no place I can start
To tell you of my broken dreams
Or pain that's filled my soul.
I have to search my whirling mind
To find why I'm not whole.
I'm filled with worlds of feelings
But none belong to me.
They come to me from all around
Until they're all that I can see.
No time to take the path to home,
And find what I have lost.
It's peace and hope and caring
That I really miss the most.
I understand your love for me
And that you wonder too
Why I cannot give you more
I do all that I can do.
Then I have to look inside
And see if I'm still here
It's not that your forgotten
I'll ever feel you near.
For once you've come into my life
That's where you'll always stay
I am lost, but you are found
I'll find myself someday.
