Sorry

by

Dragongrrl

I was the one who killed you last night
and I am not sorry
You killed me slowly
softly
for 50 year
but I always survived

You tortured me ... and I am not sorry
that I finally stopped you
because I could
and I had the power

This time, I used it

Close my eyes

by

Dragongrrl

When I close my eyes
I see you standing there
grinning,
wearing sandals and that damn hat
that you never take off
For some reason, you're always holding a
cigarette
but you're never smoking it
Your girlfriend is never there
and you come up to me
and kiss me -
as you've done before
And the yearning and
the anticipation of disappointment
take over my heart

I'm trying not
to close my eyes

Slavery

by

Dragongrrl

Dedicated to the Missouri daycare that shut down because "working mothers are neglecting their children"

you are enslaving me
entrapping me
tying my hands with
these apron strings
and as I struggle,
you calmly tell me
that this is my place
that my children will thank me
for this
someday

I am imprisoned in an apple pie -
in the American Dream

Betty Crocker and Donna Reed
never told us
how strongly these strings bind -
holding me better
than handcuffs ever could
