Marriage on the Rocks

by

Library Dragon

I used to think he was awfully cute,
I used to think he was FINE
That was until I REALLY got to know that
filthy lying
swine
I used to think he was amusing, a stitch, a hoot,
sublime
Now I know I married
a heartless Frankenstein
I'm waiting for the lawyer
He's filed for divorce
It's my fault
of course!

Rootless

by

Library Dragon

I planted roses when I moved in-
To your house--never OUR house
They bloomed the second year
The pink minatures were lovely
Now,
You and I are over
(It being YOUR HOUSE a fact painfully pounded into my head)
The roses left behind
As I try to root myself
In new soil

Religious Guys

by

Library Dragon

Be wary, girl,
Of the Religious man
Who's lived with his mama well into middle-age.
He may seem like a miracle,
Girl, he is a curse!
Run from him as you would run from a demon
From Lucifer
From Satan himself, I'm warning you, girl,
Run!
UNLESS, you're into that sort of stuff.

So, It Goes

by

Library Dragon

Iím middle-aged and shall wear purple and pearls
Put away my high-heels and settle into being granny
To Nate
To Gabriel
The children grown and blundering blind
Creating their own tangles
(So, we repeat past lives)
Where have the years gone?
Two husbands to the bad
One drowned in vodka
The other listening to voices in his head
What happened to them, I have given up thinking about
So, I am middle-aged and shall wear purple and pearls
