Loving the wrong one, I have learned to fear
the thing in my soul I hold most dear.
The arrows come quickly to nail my heart.
I wonder why God allowed me to start.
Not asking for life, not inquiring of love
just why I'm cruicified from the master above.

Heart of my Soul

by

Patricia Derrick

If in the heart of my soul I will find
the one who can touch the child inside.
The eyes will reveal what I can't discern.
The intensity is there strong enough to burn.
If in this life my love refuses to see
the burning of life that singes me,
I'll vanish into the darkness I feel inside
from him forever I will hide.

The One

by

Patricia Derrick

One foot stands before you, the other near my death.
I thought I could share what I feel, I only just regret.
My shivering causes my breath to display
and form the words I want to say.
You stand with cool expression, what now can I know
from the few movements you feel you must show?
Getting into your soul makes me fear
Just why you and I are here.

My Dream

by

Patricia Derrick

If ever you call my name,
my soul will disperse to your side.
I cannot give to you what I do not know.
I've already unveiled what I was to hide.

If ever I am to touch your face,
my hands will know I have touched a glow.
I'll draw away as I cannot bear
to find out what I already know.

If ever my lips softly touch yours,
my heart will know heaven exists for me.
If I am asleep, let me not awaken.
For these are but dreams I beg to be.

Mine

by

Patricia Derrick

One time I prayed for little things
like toys and guns and a set of swings.
Asking came easy until I grew
and started asking for things that I knew
would help me in life and love and such,
but would it give me what I needed so much.
Then one day I met my soul.
The other side of the half who made me whole.
This time I got on my knees to pray
and ask My God to grant me a way
To make her see that he was mine.
Forever to hold him as my Valentine.
