A Stranger

I met him today
In a public place.
Where shadows passed
all day long.

His clothes were dirty
stained with dirt and grime
a dark ebony face carved in time

A smile almost lit up his face
Before it disappeared
I caught a glimpse of his lucky teeth

He questioned and questioned
I gave my answers
Then watched his dark siluohette
slither away

"A stranger", he was still living on
dreams from the past.
