Something of My Own

by

Tracie Davis

What I want to say,
Cannot be put in words.
The thoughts that tightly bind me,
Cut me like a sword.
They move inside my head,
A sudden wondrous memory,
Reminding me of things gone past,
An echo or a dream.
You will never know my thoughts,
My world is in my head.
When at last it slips away,
I know I will be dead.
I must not let it slip away,
I must hold on so tight.
I'll take it with me to the roof,
From there we will take flight.
It's been stolen from me,
You had no right to take it.
I said you had been helping me,
Ha! I only faked it.
My world is not one place at all,
But all of them together,
And when I find it once again,
I'll live in there forever.
