For Fear of Judgement Dark and Deep

by

T. Crawford - Crawford

For fear of judgment dark and deep

Like ever so many eccentrics before me

Tempted by the wit and wisdom of life and death

I stand reluctant to utter heresy

Seduced by the night sky however

With neck craned I look unto the stars

Deep into the womb of the universe

And all the secrets of the heavens unfold before me

I behold the awe and the evil hidden in the metaphor of creation

I behold the mayhem, the morals and the madness of mankind

As we aspire unto divinity while breathing noxious breath upon all that is holy

I bask in the starlight of the gods

Ten billion years in the making

I become one with it

I connect with it ... for connection changes perspective

I realize that my desires must be restrained

So again I stand seduced by the beauty of the night sky

Reluctant to utter heresy

For fear of judgment dark and deep

Like ever so many eccentrics before me

I stand silent before the hidden metaphor of creation

Silent before the womb of the universe

As the secrets of the heavens unfold before me
