Liberation

by

Stephen Cosey

drenched in rays of sunshine,
saturated in the glory of the wind,
my eyes now look
toward the heavens for
restoration of my soul.

clutching pieces of moonlight,
drinking the shadowy mist from
the night air,
i engage my battle with long
sleepless nights, hoping for
mornings return.

my desire remains
unshackled,
unchained,
unleashed,
as the revolution gathers at
me feet.
bloodshed on concrete steps as
black voices shout.

Freedom

by

Stephen Cosey

fallin’ through black clouds and shattered rainbow’s
searchin’ from my piece of mind in a space that no one knows
tryin’ to loosen my soul from suffocated dreams but time froze.

i asked the earth to spin me seven times
arrested by love to atone for my crimes
wishin’ my heart had a song that rhymes

found you here weeping like me
floatin’ through desperation as the night covers the sea
battled death as i made it to shore and now my soul is free.

valentine

by

Stephen Cosey

i remember all the times i cried
solitary pursuit of love had me petrified
life somehow felt dead inside.

i fell on my knees and raised my hands to the night
leaving my heart to search for my eternal light
found peace in your eyes and ended my plight.

your faith and devotion shall always be_
my treasure and gift that has allowed me to see_
that me loving you sets my soul free.

Tale or Tell?

by

Stephen Cosey

Lately, I've been thinkin' bout something, something like me and you
Can this be a fairytale
Or a dream come true
R u my knight and armor
Do you give me a kiss and we fall in love forever
Well it's an infigment of my imagination
But the sexiness of you round brown lips is enough to drive a woman of the cloth into lustful temptation and erotic thoughts
The way you stride when you walk you demand respect
But all I can think about is those sensual kisses that you bless me with all over my body
Your eyes remind me of grey skies
But your skin and smile is pure sunshine
R U my fairytale
If not please don't tell
