The needles pierced her skin,
she ran.
Her skin hurting and stinging,
her hair whipped and blew in the wind,
she wished.
The needles pricked and stung her,
she ran faster and slipped.
The mud ran down her body.
It rained in her soul,
It rained on her head.
The two rains combined.
She cried.
It rained.

The sun is just gone.
Indigo clouds
Tinged with rose madder
Creep across the sky.

I watch as they come,
Trying not to blink,
Unwilling to allow the image
To change without my notice.
