courage

by

Dan O Connor

as i woke this morning
it was all a blur
after last night's activities
i could not stir
my head was sore and my heart was broken
it was like the last breath of fresh air from me
had being stolen
as i ruffled my beard and rubbed my eyes
why is it every morning i am wishing to die ?
but despite what people think
you will never beat me
i'll keep coming back like the tide of the sea

over indulgence

5am
just back from a night of partying
wash my hand's
wash the beer and grime from the pub's and club's away
glance up into the mirror
catch a glimpse of my eyes
stare into my soul for what feel's like an eternity
i felt like my soul was saying
" how much longer can you go on like this ? "
weekend after weekend,beer,women,party,club's
closed my eyes and walked away
the truth hurt's

early evening,late May,early June
jogging on a beach on the west coast of Ireland
bare footed, water gently splashes as you jog past
the heaven's brightly reflected on the water's
the sea air fill's your lung's
could be time to leave the city .......
