Elvis at 13

by

Maurice Colgan

The statue of Elvis in Tupelo,
Represents, if anything can,
How a young boy aged thirteen,
Was father indeed to the man.

Close by the home of his birth
Elvis with guitar strolls along,
Cast in bronze, a young man dreaming,
Of a life, devoted to song.

This famous Mississippian,
Attracts folk from everywhere,
They come to see the little house,
And the moving figure there.

Edith Piaf 2006

by

Maurice Colgan

No crackling vinyl mars the tone,
Her voice on CD sharp and clear,
Hits the heart like an arrow, fast,
Then it leaves us, all alone.
