Birth...

by

Joseph Chiudina

A summer breeze on a frigid night brought to me the scent of a rose...

A sunset opened the night, giving birh
to an angel whose voice sang like no sweet dream could.
Her words were adorned in beauty matched only by their grace
as they drifted as if sleeping to where I stood.
I let my heart speak...so many quiestions to be set free.

Yearning to learn, I was taught how to see...

Night Lover

by

Joseph Chiudina

We bathe in the moonlight
leaving no grain of stardust unturned.
We're wary of a sunrise in the night's sky
cause' we know that the breath of dawn will again...
separate us.

The hands of time sympathize.
One can almost hear a hesitation as
each second is left behind.
As moonlight gives way to daylight,
our love glistens in tears of despair.

Daydreams give birth to reality as
the hollow day draws to a close.
My bare feet breathe the cool night as
I dash my heart can barely keep up with my soul...

...and in his arms, I feel no longer alone.

Jami

by

Joseph Chiudina

Stone surface
feels smooth to my hand,
finger traces name...

Rain falls
though, no disguise is needed
sorrow flows freely...

Realizing loss
brought me to you, is it wrong
if I am grateful...

Is it forbidden
for me to talk to you and
laugh, cry, even pray...

In life
I did not know you,
but now I can be with you, nonetheless.

Dreaming of Jami

by

Joseph Chiudina

Far from dawns shore,
beneath a restful sky,
I walked with a girl
named heaven.

A message to another

by

Joseph Chiudina

If I rise,
then let me rise.
If I fall,
then let me fall.
If I hit bottom,
then let me crawl
until I learn to walk again.

Christina

by

Joseph Chiudina

My love to give,
locked in a box.
A box ready to be opened.

No key to turn,
to unlock,
just a box containing a
peice of soul waiting to be
freed.

The longer the wait,
the more time will rust it
until someone turns around and
opens it...

She is...a poem for Rosalyn

by

Joseph Chiudina

She is a rose untouched by winters shadow...
She is a stream quenching the thirst of a doe...
She is the waterfall from which love flows...

She is a blanket when the wind has its say...
She is a bed where I tired body can lay...
She is sleep on a restless night...

She is a prayer when there is too much pain...
She is hope when there seems to be nothing more to gain...
She is a last breath before a soul lets go...

She is beautiful in every way...

A priest speaks
in the dark
his words
echoing
off of
the walls
of the cave
he is in.

Thanksgiving

by

Joseph Chiudina

2:30am

I lie awake,
but I fear sleep will
soon overtake.
I've made laughter with
my mother after helping her
prepare tommorows supper,
kissed her goodnight...I love her
like no other.

I've always imagined there would be tears
in regards to leaving everyone who I hold dear,
I feel like waking my parents, tell them my time may be near
but if Im wrong, I'll feel foolish and appear insincere.

It seems to be the perfect time,
closure seems to have been certified,
if it was'nt for these thoughts,
I'd be feeling fine...

...a smile

by

Joseph Chiudina

Make you're way through my wilderness eyes,
try not to get tangled in my stare.
Look into the heart of my iris and
you'll discover a...smile there.

Dream you're way thru the chambers of my heart,
dont worry about getting lost,
for you live here...dont you know?
Listen to the soul full drum of my heart
for its got...smile written all over it.

Shifting thru my book of thoughts,
each memory is a page.
Look under the chapter " My Precious Soulmate "
for it is the one which always makes me...smile.

Sometimes I feel a storm brewing in my soul,
I feel static tingling my hair.
But, today forecast is clear and
with a ...smile gracing my face,
I have nothing to fear...

Mountain Poem

by

Joseph Chiudina

Our journey begins
with nine steps back and
we're there.

Imagine a mountain,
invaded by hornets
flinging bullets from their
black wings.
" rat-tat-tat! "
demolished without a care.

Before these " rat-tat-tats! "
flew by
I slept upon this mountain
without a sleeping bag
or
a coat for that matter.
Punched by the wind,
" whoosh-whoosh-whoosh! "
I could not sleep,
I turned to my partner and
she offered me her windbreaker.

Thinking of Jami

by

Joseph Chiudina

Sometimes we lose ourselves
though, we never lose sight of
those on the shore.
As they're calling to us,
we cant make out what their saying
but, we pretend they're wishing us
farewell as we drift within each
others arms.

Untitled

by

Joseph Chiudina

Falling asleep,
warmth cradles me
my mouth curves,
giving birth to a smile.

This dream,
sand beneath my feet
softly giving way,
I realize.
Not giving way
but, falling away...

...Im weightless as I sleep

A Veil

by

Joseph Chiudina

Movement is silent...

as I lift my hand...

to brush aside...

a veil.

With one gaze...

I am reborn and have passed away.

Gentle Savior

by

Joseph Chiudina

I need you to know,
that Im set free
by the feeling of your fingers
through my hair and my dreams.
Brushing away visions of my demise,
I shudder and whisper " Thank you "

" You saved my life "

Divinity's intervention

Pillars of light
Pierce gray clouds
Turning them white
Before a storm is
born.

Memories

by

Joseph Chiudina

I lie alone...well, not exactly alone.
Memories cover me like a quilt
from the senseless cold outside...

...The senseless beats upon the window,
but memories of you
keep me warm.

J.C loves J.S

by

Joseph Chiudina

Like seeing a sunrise for the first time,
glorified beauty, for this girl I would have died.
Taken I was without a struggle, I could not then
Cannot now deny.

Love could have conquered, I'm certain deep inside
If her mother had only looked deeper,
The age difference, only a wound
which would of healed with time.

To the one I love

by

Joseph Chiudina

I love my girl.
Lying next to me,
She is warmth on a cold night
Though, she has on occasion stolen the blankets.
Though, she does talk in her sleep,
I can never make out a word she is saying
Therefore, I'm not concerned that there may be
Another man.
In the morning, although she never brings me coffee
When she kisses me, she brings me to my senses.

I love my girl...

...She is a great dog
