Selfless flowers

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Beautiful sight,colors bright.
Sweet fragrence,blooms innocence.
Soft to touch,offer so much.
Expressing love,showing peace.
Aways giving,expecting nothing.
Selfless flowers.
Selfish man,full of vice.
Big and proud,yet so weak.
Should seek from the meek,
humble and small,
how to live
or else fall,
dragging all
to certain doom.

Faith

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Faith in Allah,
displines the mind.
Faith in Buddha,
lights up the truth.
Faith in Christ,
forgiveness abides.
Faith in Krishna
awakens the love for others.
Faith in Vivekanand,
slumber crumbles.
Faith in all these,
forms the outercrust.
Trust in the above,
hardens the inner strength.
Belief in them
forms the nucleus of true religion

Nigeria

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Nigeria, the land of plenty,
where the eagles fly high
and elephants,
rumble, tumble
and fall
while the grass,
that suffers
bears the scars.
Conflicts of interests,
settled without
any thoughts
about the grass itself.
Nigeria, we hail thee.
Heroes suffer,
villans prosper,
lies prevail
over honest truth.
The rich
get richer,
the poor, poorer.
Hard works fails,
priciples lie
behind bars.
The ugly free,
to rape and ravage
whatever catches the eye.
Profits, unused idle,
in numbered accounds
while others
sweat and toil,
labour goes unrewarded.
Leaders,visoneries
come and go.
All with the
answers and solutions
to underlyig issues.
Promises to change
the sign of times
while the cancer
of corruption
spreads into
the interensic
fabrics of society.
Hopes are raised
and the uncermoniously dashed.
The dark night
still drags on.
Nigeria, we wail thee.

Faces

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Indifference eclipses, the glowing love,
that could lightup these dark faces.
Selfishness snubs,fiery emotions,
that could melt these frozen faces.
Hypocrisy shameless,dances naked,
unchecked on these waxy faces.
Pride shreds,sincere intentions,
dashing them against,these hard faces.
Real character,true feelings,
lurking behind these masked faces.
Innocence starves,as goodness wilts,
in this desert of these dry faces.

A Friend

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Mutual trust,
love and care,
happiness and sorrow
with whom you share.
When days are dark
and night rough,
comes to mind
as someone tough.
Firm and dedicated,
knowing your wrongs,
understanding,forgiving
sacrifices dream songs.
Each smile,each glance
all seem to say,
fear not I am around,
even if different our ways.
True friends hard
to find, so hold
on to your own,
treasure more than gold.
Let not go
or else life will be cold.
Very cold.

Fading Beauty

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

When this beauty, which you now pride,
building golden dreams,having a ride
begins to fade.
When this soft skin, grows old
and other hearts near seem cold.
When the magic,
in these eyes
starts to dwindle
and life suddenly
is a riddle.
When the truth
confronts the mind
you will realize
and somewhere find
that I love you.
when the end,is near
I shall meet Death without fear
knowing you love me.

Two Little Birdies

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Two litle birdies did hide,
behind a door, by the roadside.
Two litle birdies small and fragile
humble and meek,helpless they lie.
Sad little birdies now not sing
for a naughty boy, cut their wings.
Two litle birdies I did find
seeing them, thought I was kind.
Free little birdies I did imprison
in a cage with a reason.
Two litle birdies I did keep
free us ,free us, they silently weep.
Their unhappiness I couldn't stand
struggle they did, for they not understand
I felt how they did feel,to pray did I kneel.
God please, give them back their wings
so they can again fly and sing.
Dead litle birdies later did I see
perhaps now free, from this cruel world.

Lost Hours

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Lost hours,
despair the past.
Time sours,
the firm cast.
Golden moments cry,
lack of desire.
Never did try,
from mistakes to inspire.
I know find,
something to transpire.
This helpless mind,
the will to aspire.
Inner desire burn,
determinations strengthen.
Destinations turn,
as roads lengthen.
Tall I stand,
ready to fight,
Even though dark,
this stormy night.
Far away,
I can sight,
My lonely way,
but horizons bright.

Death

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Swift, silent,it strikes
like a vulture pouncing ,
on a prey.
When, where or how
one knows not,
for its a mystery unsolved,
Taking our loved ones,
leaving tears and sorrows,
but the one,now gone
free from troubles past.
No today to endure,
neither fear,from tommorow
forgeting time,forgiving life
sleeps on,
in everlasting peace and eternal joy

T.S.

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

My best friend, nagging sister
my role model, in womanhood.
Among so many things all rolled in one,
you have been to me.
Controlling anger,
peace, understanding, perfection,
the will to forgive, the desire to give.
The strength to forget, among so many ,
are some of the gifts, you have given to me.
Having fun, going with the flow.
Taking a chill pill, appreciating,
wading through crisis, without loosing my cool
These among so many , are a few more
that you have taught me.
I really thank you, for all that has been
Thank you, dear teacher
For that is what, you have been to me.

Ghost

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

A raging fire inside,
that consumes
the peace of my mind,
tearing apart
this tortured soul,
leaving me awake
through this long,lonely night.
A ghost,
from my past,
rips open
scars healed,
haunting my sleepless,restless night.

Love Betrayed

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

A stiffled sigh,
some silent moans,
few painful groans
or a muffled cry,
who no one hears.
And these tears,
never dry.
Haunting emptiness,
in my nights lie.
The coldness
in my heart,
as cold as ice.
No more ,
sunny smiles
nor sparks of laughter,
to spare again.
All this is
that remains,
the legacy
of a love betrayed.

looking for a title

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Commitment and not imprisonment,
whatever may come in between,
Understanding will wipe,
the differences clean.
Bringing with it a calm clarity,
of a vision that can be.
Trust and not dependence,
whatever will be will be,
but the knowing that words
and actions will not undo,
the bonds set firmly in time.
Discovering the strength,
in thought and spirit
to always stand by.
Sacrifice and not pretence
whatever is possible, is possible
fake not the rest or else life will
come tumbling down all around
like a pack of cards, when least expected,
bursting the bubble,
extinguishing the will to fight.
Devotion and not selfishness,
love and not bitterness.
Respect and not anger
Warmth driving,out the coldness
that sometimes awakens these demons,
drowning the happiness,
that lifts up the heaviness,
of those burdens accumulated,
when encountered,during daily routines
of the journey,called life.

The Search

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Oceans apart,
imaginations away.
Fleetingly afloat,
aimlessly adrift,
Eyes shut wide,
sightless and blind
Lost in darkness,
living on earnings of
deeds past,
here in the wilderness.
Battered yet upright,
traversed tired .
Searching for an answer,
strived in uncertainty
Praying for a miracle,
that would awaken and free,
those wishes for an angel
that would hold my hand,
look deep into the eyes ,
and show me the way
And would heart say,
You are the one
I have been waiting for.

The Search - Part II

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

God finally heard those despairing cries,
which once had been Prayers.
Distant dreams now alive,
darkness disappears, in the lifting mist
Bringing with it, the glowing rising sun.
His Amazing Grace on display.
The miracle occurs as the eyes see,
what the heart never felt before.
Racing and singing, Yes She will
fly beside to where the mind soars.
An anchor to hold me steady, when I stumble
A rock to lean on when tired,
Wiping tears as they fall
Quenching bitter fires of anger
Calming the raging storms deep within
Mercifully detoxifying poisonous selfishness,
Cementing the cracks unseen, deep within.
A mirror reflecting reality
A touch soothing, healing the scars
inflicted by the unforgiving.
A love melting chains of fear
that free the desire
to find a key to open doors shut tight.
A realization enlightingly sweet,
When indirect glances exploring meet,
Right in front, for better for worse
Is His gift just for me.
A moment in eternity, itself a lifetime,
missing pieces in place and everything complete.
Determined and strengthened, I hold her hand,
And happily walk on the road to discovery.

Unfinshed Lesson

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

The mind is devoid of thought,
Emptiness in the heart,
Eyes brimming with tears
Faltering, afraid to fall.
Revealing a false bravado.
Memories of a life worth
Living over and over again
Wishing things different,
Unable to turn the clock,
Or change the course of time,
Searching among the strength and discipline
You helped instill.
Or the principles taught.
Questions unanswered
My guru, friend, brother & teacher
But most of all,My dearest father
Why this unfinished lesson
Clueless about this existence
Without you around.

In memorium -1

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

The sun is shining,
But the brightness dim.
The birds are singing,
their music silent.
Life's hustling & bustling,
Feels so empty.
Hidden tears drying,
As they fall.
And these stifling sobs,
Who no one hears.
The grief so unending,
Feels heavy.
minute after minute,
Hour after hour,
Day after day,
Time standing still.
Miss that magnetic smile,
The radiating face,
The twinkle in your eyes,
The carefree laughter,
The warmth of your hugs,
Those silent morning walks
And all the days gone past.
For you will always remain,
My guiding light.
Your life an inspiration,
your teaching and lessons engraved,
Deep within.
Helping me walk,
In your footsteps.
Praying , hoping,
life after life,
I am born as your son,
And the honour,
of having you as a father.

In memoriam -2

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Life is nothing
But a dream
A story with
a beginning
and definite end
The time spent in between
Is our message
To those around.
Simple living
High thinking
Treat joy
and sadness
In equal measure
Tread the
Path in a delicate balance
Contentment is
Nothing but
Peace of mind
Achieved by
Eliminating needs
To a bare minimum
Selfless service
Helping others
Stand on their feet
A regulated regime
Body and soul
Detached from attachments
material and physical
actions and words
Searching deep within
Discovering the self
Realisation and enlightenment
An inspiration to aspire
Moving towards
The ultimate goal.

In Memoriam-3

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Dear father,
Hope this finds you
in best of spirits,
I write to let you know,
that your sudden departure
to the land of unknown,
did hurt and left me
feeling lost that time.
However with passing time
I realize that
It is like the days of old
Where the distance
In between
does not matter
I see you everywhere,
in the sun rises and sunsets,
day after day.
I hear your voice,whispering,
In the rustle of the leaves
as the wind blows.
I feel your hand in mine,
guiding and leading me,
when surrounded by doubts,
showing me the way.
Your eternal presence around
makes me fearless, stronger,
bringing with it the calmness
Allowing me to take,
things in my stride,
walking this path your way.

My Dad's smile

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Healing, magnetic,
Hiding , clarifying,
It ran deep, touching,
How genuine it truly was.
It revealed a centre
That had God amidst of it all
It had such clarity,
cutting through the fat,
Brighter and more priceless
than the brightest diamond
Shining through the dark
That's what made it
Amazingly truthful
Really unforgettable
Through all things,
happiness and sadness,
Up and downs,
Over and under
Twist and turns
That powerful and alluring smile
Was where his strength lay
and made him truly beautiful.

Fifty and going strong

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Today I step out,

As life beyond fifty

beckons me with

Open arms,

I look back and find

No regrets

Of experiences endured

Only lessons learnt

Simple values upheld

Lived by the code

each new day

One for all

and all for one

Reaping what was sown

Honour, Trust and Respect

My riches

Blessings of my father

Smiling down from heaven

And friends, my gains

Exciting the road lies ahead

Unknown, uncharted

Yet I march on fearless

Armed with the confidence

And love of near and dear

Come what may

with the knowledge

The past is gone

However the best

Is yet to come.

The calling of the land

by

Alok Kumar Chaudhry

Silence broken by
the music
of nature's orchestra.
these ripples
of flowing water
mingle with
the chirping birds,
The sugar cane leaves
Crackle softly
As the wind whispers.
The peacocks
merrily sing along
the sun plays hide and seek
among the clouds.
The tractor's laboring
engine chugs far away,
And my heart adds on,
drumming at the crescendo
at every beat.
The warmth of
dark brown soil as it slips
through my fingers
Blissful and peaceful
away from
stress of the daily grind
My soul feels
the calling of the land.
