The Bridge

by

Sudeshna A. Chatterjee

The silent water flows under,
Mesmerising all above,
Memoirs of a lost love,
Hidden in its bossom,
And many a soul of the yonder.
Captured trance of a stranger,
And flows with it
May be a dream of a lover,
Or a tear of a beloved.
Or a simple reflection of a long forgotten face,
That stood alone in a crowd.
And indeed a silent witness it stands,
Never a tear it sheds,
Not a sigh escapes.
Nor a smile adorn the stone cold lips.
Silent it was and silence it has,
Perhaps remembering the past.
The silent silver flows under,
Mesmerising all above...

A Night

by

Sudeshna A. Chatterjee

On a dark stormy night ,
Stands alone a cliff and me.
And i feel your presence,
Though my eyes say its me ,only me.
The silent waves roar below,
And then break as if they never were,
Just as we were destined, never to be,to be.
The silver dawns,
It lightens up the sea,
The light kisses the cliff,
Then decides to touch me.
The careless wind whisper's aloud,
Though not there you still remain as me.
A cloud shields the moon,
Then breaks into tears,
As the drops reach the earth,
My tears are lost in fate's mirth.
The waves make a fresh start,
I realise it ends only to begin again.
Bracing myself i break into a smile.

Once

by

Sudeshna A. Chatterjee

Days of childhood,smiles with tears,
Talks of innocence,all gone.
Lost somewhere in the mist of time,
Left behind are memories..bittersweet.
I as me hold on to them, still hold on.
Beneath those tall trees are burried ..
The treasure of childhood i once cherished,
Long forgotten past looks up as my memories beckon me,
Walking down the memory lane hand in hand with the present,
As past follows,i catch a glimpse of future.
With the promise of sunshine, the future awaits me.
Persueing dreams..i reach out,
As it waits to turn into the present.
Among these phases my quest continues..
As i search for the child i knew as me...
Not very long ago....once.

A Tryst

by

Sudeshna A. Chatterjee

for Pluto....who still exists in my memories & dwells in my heart!

I feel the breeze tease my hair,
As i chase across a field.
The sun-kissed earth smile's aloud ,
As the heavens promise a horizon.
The giant grasses leap with joy,
The sky is blue as ever, daring me to reach out.
I open my arms and close my eyes, I catch a raindrop,
I lose sight and must hurry,
The clouds promise to break,
I see the winding road ahead,
I feel scared and call him back,
All i hear is a yelp and a whine,
And silence engulfs me.

I Wish.....

by

Sudeshna A. Chatterjee

I wish for myself a moment or two,
Love from if not many then maybe a few,
Bring down maybe a new-born star,
Shining upon me from a place quite far.
Touch the clouds and whisper to the air,
Or maybe scale the heights no one dares.
Think of something happening and new,
May be an idea occuring to a few;
Stare at a sight and hold on,
Even after my sight has long gone,
Or perform a memorable feat..
Long after my heart has missed a beat.
Treasure the valuables with a meaning,
Hold on to my views with an intelligent reasoning.
Win a few battles before the war,
Maybe challenge fate with a knock on it's door.
And long after i cease to exist,
Perhaps after a memorable exit.
And in the spring with the arrival of a dove,
May i live hearts that love!
