some men

by

Charletha

some men have very small heads
that bruise their heart when you knock them about
their blood runs uphill
like doves to the sun
until their swallowed by the traveling light
gliding in a downhill draft
while time pulls apart their wings
by the strings
feathers to flesh
lust to dust

you speak

by

Charletha

you speak,
breath on a flame
dancing to mute music
my heart rises to sing
with love on it's tongue
but no words to share
by the warmth of it's flame
hear:
" speak again "

crush

by

Charletha

it's the happiness of a little child
an innocent bliss
always confused, always at play
as time takes it's fastest course
life has no length yet to measure with love
patiently I stay
nature has given me to survive
thirst, hunger, fear, and pain
still i fear my life is a lamb
at the mercy of this unnatural will
that turns under reason to uncover fate
