Gethsemane

by

Paul Cassidy

I imagine wild lavender,
Olive trees and fig,
The scent of mint, wet,
With morning dew

The God-Man on His knees
Trembling and alone
Afraid, at His Fathers feet
Praying for rescue, deliverance
His agony so intense, so deep,
That His sweat becomes as blood
Falling,
Like the tears of His Mother
Down to earth
And I thank God
For the strength He found there
For His love for me,a wretched man,
Steeped in sin
Which made Him walk
From that garden
Into the arms of death

I can't but serve Him
