Life is a Big Shark

by

Christian Bynum

Life is a big shark
and I sit in his belly

Surrounded
by streams
of
the floatsam and jetsam of the ages
and unwelcome ribs
that
hold me fast

It is dark
I cannot see
I wait
slowly
digesting
my surroundings
as they
digest me

How long will I sit
How long will I wait
How long will I live
like this?
