The Sea

by

Lowell Burton

First a puddle,
Then a stream,
Then *a river,
Next a lake,
Growing larger all the time,
How long will it take,
To grow to a sea from a lake.
It seems to take forever,
Just to grow to a river.
It takes a long time,
And even when it's a sea,
It's still in it's prime.
From a gentle sea,
It gets larger still,
Until...
It's a frothing, whirling,
OCEAN!

Chalk

by

Lowell Burton

There once was a small piece of chalk,
Who only could write, not talk.
He said, "Yes I must!"
But just turned into dust.
( But not before trying to walk )

The Vegetarian

by

Lowell Burton

There once was a girl named Josephine,
Who never ate meat, just a large lima bean.
