Gothica Suburbana

by

Daniel Z Burgess

We walked these ancient streets,
Clothed in darkness and pain.
These walls have seen the beauty.
These nights have held my shame.
I am the wildebeast of this town.
I am hunted by empty dreams and utopian desires.
Do not fear me. I know not what I do.

O beautiful cabbage,
Under-rated vegetable.
Green in colour, just like you feel
Every time you turn your head,
Tasteful and expensive
And face in the coldness,
Lonely towards the lettuce.
