A Prayer
by
Eric Broyles
On earth someday, peace will rein,
Until then, there shall be pain.
Everyday you hear of war,
Yet people pray more and more;
The smell of violence fills the air,
Is it that not enough people care?
I dream and hope for peace someday,
God, guide us, show us the way
To a world that's safe with endless love,
For this we pray to the heavens above.

Importance Lies Not In Who's to Blame
by
Eric Broyles
What could have been often causes pain
But reality must be cherished to remain
Stable and prevent your world from falling
Into the hands of the mysterious calling
Of darkness. Every situation has two sides:
One that really happened, and another that hides
In the imagination and power of the mind.
It's this one you must leave behind.
Importance lies not in who's to blame,
It lies within the results that became
Of the event. No life was lost, everyone's okay,
Accepting this will bring light to all your days.
The Precious Power of Love
by
Eric Broyles
A secret that cannot be delivered
Lurks. A hint: someone unsuspected
Has feelings ill portrayed;
You're loved, no doubt. Even though
Recognition may be absent, the
Feelings are surely present.
Look closely, the love is all
Around, and when you're feeling
Depressed and hurt, be aware of the
Sound of the heart beating
Very near. Physical distance is
Not a factor, for nothing outdoes
The precious power of love.
We're So Far Apart
by
Eric Broyles
Often I find myself wondering why,
As tears slowly develop in my eye;
My heart is bleeding and aching with pain;
As time passes by, I go more insane.
My love is like a river, flowing free,
It goes and goes till it reaches the sea,
And even when there it ceases to die:
It flourishes, as every day goes by.
I wish that you were here to hold me tight:
My feelings are thus with each passing night.
I know someday, together we shall be,
Together, I declare, just you and me.
But until that day, love is sure to haunt;
After which, no more shall I ever want.
A Longing
by
Eric Broyles
I start the day, weary and wondering,
Many thoughts I have, my heart is thundering.
Flowers bud, as the day constantly grows;
With every second, more of my love shows.
Many thoughts of you fill my mind;
Love for you is easy to find.
I await the sound of your voice -
The love I feel leaves me no choice -
As I think about you all day long,
Hoping, soon true love will come along;
We will be together in love and glee,
And forever more - happy we shall be.
The Call of Nature
by
Eric Broyles
The hour grows late
And biology is calling,
Mind works to stay awake
But body continues falling
Further into a state of sleep
As the night grows on
And the coons begin to creep,
Spreading trash about the lawn.
The sun hides behind the trees
But the night has just begun.
As mother nature begins to please
The creatures who lurk after the sun
Has gone to bed for the night.
The world undergoes a dark state,
Until morn is broke at first light,
And awaketh he who retired so late.
Ode to the Sun
by
Eric Broyles
Orange Goddess in the sky,
At day, you shine so bright
But I wonder why
It is you're absent at night.
Your emissions are a map
That guide me through the days
But with no light on my lap
I don't know what is says.
I really enjoy your heat
At day, but later I yearn,
For when you cease to beat
The whole world seems to turn
Into ugliness and displeasure;
Evil lurks behind every face
And you can easily measure
A strong hatred in every place
You go, it never fails.
So please, stay in my sight;
Protect me from the gales,
And take away all my fright.
Oh Terrible Day
by
Eric Broyles
Oh terrible day, why must you come?
All my life, all my heart you have undone.
Pain has seized my world and hell
Has become a place I know well.
My friend you hold captive in your hand,
And here I sit, my heart full of sand,
Waiting for a sign, and kind of clue,
That she'll quickly be as good as new.
A prayer I say, to the lord above
Because I care, and all my love
Is invisible until she is okay.
I never want to relive this terrible day.
Rumors
by
Eric Broyles
Words have a way of always
Being twisted. Someone says
One thing, passes the words around,
And in the end they sound
Different than they did before,
Marking the start of a word war.
Under the Mistletoe
by
Eric Broyles
Under the mistletoe is where
I like to be, alone with you,
Running my fingers through your hair,
Enjoying the magic between us two.
It gives me pleasure to hold
You in my arms so close
And as I start to grow bold
I swiftly pursue another dose,
Pressing my lips firmly to yours,
Squeezing you tighter in my arms
And I reach for the oars
As I row along the river of charms.
Under the mistletoe is where
I like to be, alone with you,
Running my fingers through your hair,
Enjoying the magic between us two.
This love I feel is oh so fine,
Bringing light to all my waking hours.
It sends chills up my spine,
Demonstrating the magnitude of its powers.
I feel the beating of your heart
And the rhythm becomes my own,
Reassuring we'll never be apart,
And never again be alone.
Under the mistletoe is where
I like to be, alone with you,
Running my fingers through your hair,
Enjoying the magic between us two.
It's magical moments like these
I live for every day of my life
I want to get down on my knees
And ask you to be my wife.
It's not everyday a love this pure
Is found by a couple so young,
One look in your eyes and I'm sure
For me, you're the only one.
Under the mistletoe is where
I like to be, alone with you,
Running my fingers through your hair,
Enjoying the magic between us two.
