Midnight stroll

by

Duane Brown

Loneliness and despair.
Shadows creeping in the stale night air.
Blinded by the light hidden out of sight in the cool night air.

Coming into view in the pale yellow light of loneliness.
A shadow slips out of sight.
Crept into the darkness the birth place of shadows, watching you pass with the whistling wind that mocks you, taunts you, and flaunts its way down the street and up the dark shadowed alley of loneliness and despair.

The whistling wind that cools the night air sees it all, but tells no tale.
Only the shadows tell the tale of woe, the loneliness and despair.

They have always been there, will always be there.
Only a lucky few will be cast into the light, and let the loneliness and despair ride the whistling wind that mocks you, taunts you, and flaunts its way down the street and up the dark shadowed alley of loneliness and despair.
