Trees

by

Jon Black

People sometimes forget
that trees breathe, too.
And they sometimes get pissed off,
and fall on lumberjacks,
and say, "ha, ha, ha...
I fell on a lumberjack."

That isn't how dialectical materialism operates.
It falls on Marx and laughs,
and says
"look, capitalism leaves a trail of slime
on the putrid field of obscurity."
What a differance there was
that is
to differ, and to defer.
Language is, by nature, secondary,
as are lumberjacks.

Beneath the cliff is air,
from which we fall
into nothing but dreams.
