Lost, but not forgotten

by

Valentina Beamus

As our eyes meet
Feels as though the ground never touches our feet
We connect in such a way
We just stare at each other with nothing to say

Every thought and feeling
Is worthy of exploring
I go home speechless
With no need to rush this
Who knew this would be my mistake
So quickly your heart was ready for the take

No opportunity to speak my case
No need to try, your heart didnít want to be chased
I told no lies
I made no promises
I never tried to create ties
To give false hope to your weaknesses

I was just me
Full of passion and truth
If only I had known my opportunity would flee
I would have spoken more freely

I gave up without a fight
Wishing you only the best
To see you get hurt so fast

I opened my arms to you again
This time with less constraint
All the hurt forgotten in the distance so faint
But once again, pain
I see you are not mine to gain

How can an illusion feel so good
How can lies sound so true
How can I offer up such opportunity
To a soul that is lost for eternity

My pain is my own
The fault goes to no one
I just lay and wonder
Can anyone hear my hearts thunder
