Ode to Mountain Dew

by

Suzanne Bauzys

Beautiful liquid, sparkly drink
Oh how your liquid makes me think
That your color is bright like the sweet sunshine
How I wish the all of you could someday be mine
Your small tiny bubbles tease me as they go up
The side of my new plastic Mountain Dew cup
As I bring you to my lips, you make my mouth drool
I love you like an Italian loves pasta fazool
You fill me up so I want no other
Oh, Mountain Dew! You're my new lover!

Dream Vacation

by

Suzanne Bauzys

A beautiful island, a tropical breeze
is enough to make me weak in the knees
I feel the warm sand between my toes
this is my hideout of which nobody knows
I see the leaves rustle and watch the palms sway
on the other side is a crystal clear bay
no one around me, not a person in sight
except for the gulls that have taken to flight
this is my hideout, it's only for me
as I lay on the sand down by the beach.

Intoxication

by

Suzanne Bauzys

Your love is coursing through me
like sweet wine through my blood
It intoxicates and exhilerates me
soon, I hope, to flood
My heart will overflow soon
from this dizzying liquor
but the way it's filling up now
it couldn't flow any quicker
From this sweet intoxication
I taste inside my heart
I hope I never come to sober
and that we never part.

Thunderstorm

by

Suzanne Bauzys

The rain drip drops drip drops
Past the clouds
Down to crops
Over hills and over plains
Over grassy flowered terrains.
The thunder rolls and rolls and claps;
A minute later
Lightning cracks
Lightning cracks
All these three make up a song
of nature's elements; right and wrong.
Drip drop drip drip drop
The rain falls faster, faster still
Falls down fast and floods the hill.
Thunder rolls like ocean waves
from the sea and over caves
covers cities, covers towns
covers people all around.
Lightning strikes in random places
Unforeseen in people's faces.
Makes you jump and gives a start
the flash of lightning stops your heart.

Ivy

by

Suzanne Bauzys

You and I are two vines
tangled, twisted around each other
on each other, in each other
grasping on, holding on
only two, I around you
loving you, feeling you
inside and out, twisted about
having you, wanting you
around me, tangled up inside me
only two
you love me and I love you

Tipsy

by

Tipsy

I'm drunk
I'm a drunk, crazy fool
crazy over you
and the things that you do
I don't think I've had enough
to drink, because I can
still think about the
world going by me and time will
pass and fly right by the two of us
before we can stop and have another drink.

Dying

by

Suzanne Bauzys

Dying

Drowning myself in my tears of pain
I miss you so much- need to be near you again
I hate being so far away from your heart
It makes me feel like there's nothing to start
Crying inside each time I see you
Thinking about nothing but wanting to be with you
I'm going crazy just watching you here
Wondering if you and I will be together next year
Even lying next to you just doesn't seem right
When all that would do is torture me at night
Just being around you makes me cry out in sorrow
and not wanting to know how we'll end up tomorrow.

Doing Time

by

Suzanne Bauzys

I've been on trial
in this crime called life
all the stress that I've been through
has put me through strife.
Sitting here on the witness stand
I see my life put on trial
all my actions are stripped naked
I'm not in denial.
Questions are asked of me
I say yes or no
I want to get this over with
but it's not time to go.
More questions are thrown at me
some I don't deny
some I don't want to answer
to some of them I lie.
Near the end of this trial
I look all around
I see no one in the courtroom
except a bug on the ground.
Who was asking questions?
I wonder who it could be?
There is one person I can think of
and that person is me.

Understanding

by

Suzanne Bauzys

To understand you is to

listen to you when you're feeling down

see things your way when you have a frown

talk with you when there's no one there

be your best friend when no one cares

be by your side when you need to vent

always and forever, til the end
