Forsaken

by

Janessa Bate

It drowns my skin to hide the appeal,
The wound is nothing a downpour won't heal.
I'm drawn but can't hold on to the rain,
An unframed treasure to purify the pain.
Your piercing words echo through my mind,
If you let them inside they will leave you behind.
So I can't be your angel to have and to hold.
I refuse to be stainlessa nd do as I'm told.
But if I were her, would you yield from above?
Would you kill for my kiss, would you die for my love?
When raindrops and tears bead off my face
The pain is nothing a downpour won't erase.

Used

I remember all of it.
Every touch, every kiss, every lie
You told me.
My body was your test,
To be rejected
When you came to your conclusion.
And my feelings were
Worthless and dismissable to you.
It is for you that I cry,
My once trusted friend.

In the Face of Hatred

by

Janessa Bate

I'm glad I don't have the hatred
For myself that you seem to possess.
I love you, but it breaks me in two
To see you, so out there,
Screaming into mirrors and at the people
Who whisper as you walk by.
If you came to me, crying,
I would hold you and make it all better.
I would try, anyway, but in truth,
I'm as powerless as you in the face of hatred.

Always

by

Janessa Bate

There is always more than you know.
When there is no sun in the earth,
In the grass, in the rocks,
That have been eroded by waves of salt.
You should be happy for him.
The sun is dying but he will always be there
To wipe the tears from your eyes
When the trees wither, break, and fall,
And a blanket of ice covers your world.
There is always one watching over you,
Forever guiding you away from happiness.
And there is always more than you know.
