The Dead Bed

by

Janine Barry

Once alive and happy as can be,
The beautiful tree was always with me.
We will always be the best of friends,
Just you and me till the end.
One day he did not show
And the next and next day, until it began to snow.
I was sick in bed,
Just lying there rested upon my head.
I wanted to visit my very best friend,
Before my life will cime to an end.
The day had come when I had gone, to rest
I never had the chance to say goodbye, to the best
Friend I ever had.
But I died a happy boy knowing that my tree
Loved me, and I loved thee.
Resting just below
Where my best and only friend was laying low.
