The Wind Song

by

Charlotte Marie Baker

I can't get that mixed up melody out of my head
It is there when I wake up in the morning until I go to bed.
I don't know if I heard it long ago
Or if I heard it on my "Philco" radio.
It is a very plaintive sort of tune
Like the breeze whistling over the windswept sandy dunes.
It makes me want to be out on the spacious plains
With no highways or biways, just an open range.
All I need would be the moon and the stars,
My sweetheart and my old guitar.
Everybody needs someone by their side
So, come along my darling, and let us ride
In our blue caravan with our few belongings
If we leave right now, we will get there by morning.
