lend me your shoulder

by

Nganwa Anthony

lend me your shoulder i need to rest
for ths shoes i wear are old and torn
coz the path i take is rocky and steep
with hills so great and curves so crooked

lend me your shoulder i need to rest
coz darkness ahead seems to prevail
with no stars around to lead me home
and no dawn to bring me hope

lend me your shoulder i need to rest
for in this desert i loose my strength
as ahead of me i see mirages of love
and many illusions of brilliant peace

lend me your shoulder i need to rest
for strange waves toss my ship
and weaken the strenth of my powerful grip
making my life a short painful trip

lend me your shoulder i need to rest
for one day i'll win the quest
and help you in your journeys tests
as the breath of peace does its best

a light of hope

by

Nganwa Anthony

I see a light of distant hope
that glitters quite often in my times of need
in my dark nights it rekindles my flame
and leads me to triumph against all odds
just like a soldier determined to win
so is my heart not ready to loose
though at times the mountain seems high
the twinkle of light seems to flatten this height
as i walk in the desert alone
this guiding light quenches mt thirst
and when i seem to be lost at sea
the distant star brings me back ashore
and since right now i've planted my seed
the fruit of appreciation is all i can give

rising star

by

Nganwa Anthony

a rising star amonst the dust
the future od hope ,a sheild to the weak
of those so tired along the rocky path
walking in despair wih old and torn shoes

the rising sta defender of youth
against the seeds dispersed by clouds
that bring a story,a legend of doom
which blinds our light, a future unknown

this is a needle that sows with care
using the thread that comes with love
finaly making petals so bright
exposing the beauty of once thorny flowers

a basket weaved out of her experience
protector against those eagerto run
the race of death ,the face of pain
wearing the shoes that dont fit them

this is a horse of galloping wind
that blows away the whispers of mist
which blind our eyes, our hopes forgotten
the rise of sorrow a darkened tommorrow

the voice,a sound of melody's choice
with strengtrh so great our cries are heard
wiping away those painful tears
erasing the thoughts of dtreaddful fears

this is a blanket nitted with peace
designed out of unconditional love
curved and wooven with wool of warmth
from a womb so precious defined by hope

this is a mirror fashioned with beauty
that has a reflection of kindess at heart
a picture of hope the painting of courage
a piece of art that dearly treasured.

breath of light

by

Nganwa Anthony

the seeds of rain are born again
as weeds of pain will never remain
making the future never so tough
coz through yesterday's culture i saw it rough

i felt the past bring us trouble
coz we were cursed, too weak to struggle
but through the sorrow we will endure
and plant a tommorrow ever so pure

i feel the light frighten my gloom
as stars at night brighten my doom
making my river flow with ease
as the stars glow and bring me peace

beyond my mourn i see a ray
coz dawn is on its beautiful way
to hide me from the fate of death
as he rides the pace of breath

the journey's rod

by

Nganwa Anthony

one day i sailed away from home
into the depth of the oceans unknown
with none to guide me but your own true words
that saved me from the quietest nights
with whispers that i thought were memories
they guided my ship to a land so bright
on which i managed to set a foundation
they saved me from the scorching heat
that followed me through my life’s heart beats

now that am home and all is well
i want to thank you for where i dwell
not forgetting those beautiful words
that kept me strong in my trial soaked days
all i say to you today is those very words
you whispered to me in time of desperate need
which calmed my storm and took me home

thinking of you

by

Nganwa Anthony

when I lie alone, away from troubled thoughts
my heart and mind are distanced from me
making me think about each day with you

I still remember your gentle sweet words
that wipe away my shameful tears
your heart my guard, my pillar of strength
now enbedded making us one

your smile with power of whirlwind might
sweeps away my troubles at sight
making my journey a less painful trip

now that you're gone over the hills
beyond the horizon into the blue
I want you to know my heart is with you
waiting patiently for your return
and my mind trapped thinking of you
